The top Corporate Social Responsibility event ever held in Greece, took place on the 27th and 28th of April 2007, at Stratos Vassilikos Hotel in Athens, with the participation of Mr. Ralph Thurm, Chief Operating Officer of the GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) and the scientific coordination of the Centre for Sustainability and Excellence (CSE)

The CSR Congress 2007, ‘The Invitation of Quality to the Challenges of Society’, was organised by Eco-Q magazine, and held under the auspices of the Ministry of Development and the Ministry of Health and Welfare. More than twenty distinctive speakers from corporations, NGOs, and Academic Institutions shared their knowledge and expertise with more than 200 participants, placing this conference at the top, as far as Greek Corporate Social Responsibility events of this magnitude are concerned.

The Conference was greeted by Mr. Spiros Papadopoulos, General Secretary of the Ministry of Development, while the Chairman of the event, Mr. Nikos Avlonas, Managing Director of CSE, held a speech pertaining to strategy and international standards of Corporate Social Responsibility as they are formed in the contemporary business agenda.

The event included important international guest speakers such as Mr. Ralph Thurm, Chief Operating Officer of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and Mr. Thomas Achelis, President of the Forum for International Communication, along with Greek representatives of corporations and organisations such as Halyx Cement, Vodafone, OPAP, Siemens, OTE, Mesogios SOS, Athens International Airport, Greenpeace, Cyprus Telecommunications Authority, Centre of Renewable Energy Sources, Hellenic Federation, SDE, among many others.

Microsoft and Siemens were sponsoring the event, while EuroCharity, ‘KERDOS’ newspaper, ‘go natural’ magazine, Actclick and the Greek Centre for Volunteerism Promotion, Anthropos.gr were supporting as media partners.
